Shemar Franklin Moore (born April 20, 1970, Oakland, California) is an American actor, producer, and former model. Raised partly overseas by his single mother, Marilyn, he returned to California, attended Santa Clara University on an athletic scholarship, and graduated in Communications with a minor in Theater Arts.

Moore rose to fame as Malcolm Winters on The Young and the Restless (1994–2005), winning a Daytime Emmy and several NAACP Image Awards. He went on to become a household name as FBI Agent Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds (2005–2017) and later as Sergeant “Hondo” Harrelson in CBS’s hit series S.W.A.T. (2017–2025). He also hosted Soul Train (1999–2003), voiced Cyborg in DC animated films, and appeared in the Sonic the Hedgehog movies.

Throughout his career, Moore has earned multiple NAACP Image Awards and other honors. Off-screen, he is known for his philanthropy, especially raising awareness and funds for multiple sclerosis research through his “Baby Girl” clothing line, in honor of his late mother. In 2023, he became a father to daughter Frankie, which he has described as a life-changing moment.
